I like the fact the fact that we’re getting a throwback of the iconic moments of the Indigo League, and this is gonna bring the feels out of a lot of people. Happy 20th anniversary Pokemon! However, there ARE issues I have with this. First of all, they replaced Brock and Misty, the best companions of the ENTIRE anime, with two, most likely, generic characters who, let’s be honest here, we’re just gonna forget about AFTER the movie anyway, and we won’t see them again in either, not unless somebody draws some fanart and/or writes fanfiction regarding those two anyway. If we don’t see Brock and Misty as companions, I at least wanna see them as either Gym Leaders Ash has to face, or a small cameo. My patronus is Pikapool.

I’d like to mention, I understand this is an alternate retelling of Indigo League, that this is an opportunity to introduce new fans, but come on, Lucario? Incinerator? Do we really need to have Pokemon from Gen. 2-7 in this? Can’t you just tell the same story with Gen. 1 Pokemon? Other than that, I’m OK with this. I’ll still see it though, I’m just feeling some deep concerns and mixed opinions about this one. That actually seems like a solid idea. Take the main character back to his roots, and maybe he can actually progress this time around moving forward instead of being eternally 10 and a relatively terrible trainer who never wins any tournaments.

Brock was a misogynistic perverted idiot and Misty was a whiney hot headed bitch. Yeah, I understand keeping the original characters and it’s disappointing but it isn’t good for the modern day. Let’s move past the overdone characters in anime and put a fresh taste to the storyline. I’m excited but if you were gonna go through the hassle of making this gorgeous animation, why not bring back Misty and Brock? they everyone’s favorite characters”.
